Live CD
Finally our new live-record is under way. It will probably be out for sale in spring of 2013. The tunes display the extreme versatility of the band, spanning from roots to some jazzy excursions from Andreas, a latin forte from Anders on the piano. There will be standards and some original compositions.

Blues-guitar master class
I had the honour of being invited to lead a handful of keen guitarists in Örebro through a day of blues-guitar. To teach the techniques, different styles, boxes and chords, various rhythms in soloing and accompanying. I admit I was a bit nervous but it turned out to be a very awarding day.

Blues-guitar is seemingly technically easy and the trick is to express something with these few notes. It is hard to teach. In jazz-guitar you can give a few scales and tell people to come back when they´ve got them in their fingers, in a year or three.

Anyway, it was a nice experience and as always you learn as you teach. Thomas

Clarion hotel Gillet
Nice gigs in a hotel in Uppsala. This autumn we did a few Friday-gigs at Clarion hotel Gillet´s bar, After Work and evening concerts.

People gather after work, stay on, have a nice time and perhaps dance a bit.

Good stage, nice audience, good fod and good vibes. We will come back next year.

Motala
It was a rather nice trip on country roads with me and Anders (piano) and Andreas (organ) in the latter´s van. Bass and drums drove from Stockholm in a separate car.

The gig itself took place in a restaurant with a nice lakeside view. The band was, as always, a five piece machine without mercy and the audience was content. A very skillful sound technician helped us. We were accomodated in a cottage by the lake, very nice.

Premiere-gig at Katalins
We had the honor to open Katalin´s, www.katalin.com, new stage in the pub. It is always a joy to have a gig at her place. If you´re in Stockholm, get on a train to Uppsala and visit "Katalin and all that Jazz". Just cross the rails. Through the years I´ve listened to Al Foster, Chick Corea, John Scofield and many others from her stage.

Live recording
This Thursday and Friday we made yet an attempt to record live. As usual I had managed to catch a cold from someone. I strongly suspect Andreas (organ). But my shoulder which was badly"frozen" during our session before this one, is now fully healed. The hard-drive also seems to have worked this time, so one can expect a record due to Christmas. Anyway that´s the plan. Some of the tunes we decided to edit and put out on the "tube" for you to hopefully enjoy.

Playing the blues in Rumania.
I got an arrangement from the festival arranger: Beethoven choir in the 9th symphony. This would open the festival in a bluesy way and, wonder of all wonders, it works. Beethoven wrote a piece which works if you play it in a gospel/blues feel. Dear old man. The melody gets to you in a perfectly natural way and inspires you to go beyond its bounds. No problemo. This will be fun. Anders playing the gospel piano and Andreas exploring his new Nordsynth. All is well as always. Tallyho!

Had a gig in Gävle-city. Is there anyone living there? An old acquaintance showed up, occupied a table and sat down waiting for his favorite tune. We started playing for the three-headed crowd. Eventually a few stray dogs entered at approximately half past eleven, hearing the last three tunes, wondering why we played so little. Northern Uppland seems to be neutron-bombed. Is it the TV-sports? Is everyone married or dead? Further north people tend to get out from the living room more often. In northern Uppland the TV seems to rule. Heavy snowfall accompanied while driving home. I put the cruise on 100, sat back thinking about the beers in the fridge. Anyway, as always, it was fun to play. One week you´re a celebrity in Vienna, the other week you know your place. Home sweet home ;-)
